REVIEW: Rimmel London Stay Matte Collection!

The sun is out, the grass is turning green, birds are singing and the weather is warming up. Summer is just around the corner, yay! As exciting as summer is, there's the issue that I'm sure most if not all of us have run into - oily skin, and makeup sliding right off in the heat of the sun. The worst.
To try and banish those problems for good Rimmel London has revamped their Stay Matte line of makeup and I'm so excited to share with you the outcome!
I was sent to review the Stay Matte Perfecting Primer ($8.98), Stay Matte Foundation ($8.99), Softmatte concealer ($9.49) Pressed Powders ($7.98) and 2-in-1 Primer & Setting Spray ($8.99)

Primer

The primer is very luxurious feeling and sinks well into the skin. Rimmel claims it will "not make skin feel heavy and greasy..will not clog pores, controls shine up to 8 hours". It is alcohol free and does not contain fragrance so it won't irritate sensitive skin!
It does contain silicones and while I'm usually opposed to silicone based primers, this one oddly doesn't feel like the usual "layer" of primer on your face the way silicone primers usually do. I felt like it soaked in rather than sat on top and felt VERY lightweight.

Foundation

I received a few shades of foundation and although they are all a bit on the dark side right now, sure enough in a month or so the shades will be perfect for me! It is a thick, but not too thick foundation (Think somewhere in between L'oreal Pro Matte and Total Cover. I find TC to be VERY thick and difficult to blend, but Pro Matte is more on the liquidy "like skin" side)
I don't typically opt for thick foundations but this one really surprised me. Once I started blending it in and the product heated up on my skin it melted right in and blended effortlessly, and felt very lightweight. I didn't have that mask feel that most heavy foundations give, and I still felt like my skin could breathe through it. I'm incredibly impressed with this! The foundation was a medium coverage but I feel like it could very easily be buildable and layered for a fuller coverage if needed.

Concealer

The Softmatte concealer is designed to "give instant flawless coverage that lasts all day, with up to 24 hours of shine control." My biggest issue with concealers is they look like the coverage is great on a swatch, but as soon as it's blended out it dissipates. I found when applying this under my eyes it stayed put very well, and didn't settle instantly into the lines under my eyes which is a huge issue I run into as well! It blended out very well, and I would say the coverage is medium but very buildable. I did two layers under my eyes to see how it would work, and set with powder and my makeup still looked great by the end of the day. Yesss!

Powder

Honestly, I don't use pressed powder. Ever. But the Rimmel powders have completely changed my mind on that. I was sent two shades for highlight and bronzing, and they work wonderfully! I set my face with the lighter shade 006, and bronzed the areas of my face I wanted to contour with the darker shade 016 and they look BEAUTIFUL on the skin. They do not look cakey or heavy, they sat perfectly on top of my concealer/foundation and I absolutely stayed matte all day! I am convinced pressed powders are the way to go this summer.

Setting Spray

Now I'm a huge devotee to my UD All Nighter spray but I have to hand it to Rimmel, this setting spray is wonderful. It made a fine mist and I really feel like it helped keep my makeup together throughout the day. I will make one note; be sure to shake it really well before spraying your face or you will end up with white splotches all over!

Overall I am obsessed with everything from this collection and I urge you to head out and pick up some of these to help you get through the summer heat! A big thanks to the team at MSL group for sending me these to try out and review. Stay Matte everyone!

*I was sent these in exchange for my honest opinion on the products. All thoughts are my own
